Arctic
Cat was the pioneer manufacturer for the development of cleaner,
quieter four-stroke snowmobile engine. Artic Cats Snowmobiles were
happily the first snowmobiles to certify 2003 and 2004 models. This
also is great news for Artic Cat snowmobile owners, who, because
of our recent developments, are able to enjoy the most popular snowmobile
destinations. Arctic Cat's snowmobiles are certified to significantly outperform
the National Park Service's emissions standards requirements, as
well as the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agency
up to 2012.
To alleviate the impacts on air quality and on the natural soundscape,
the National Park Service requires recreational snowmobiles entering
the parks to meet certain BAT emissions standards. These are defined,
for snowmobiles, as a snowmobile that has 90 percent reduction in
its hydrocarbons and a 70 percent reduction in its carbon monoxide
emissions from the EPA's basic standards.
The certification Artic Cat snowmobiles have achieved to obtain
demonstrates commitment to produce environmentally responsible machines
that offer performance unlike any other snowmobile.
Arctic Cat has been developing four-stroke engine technology since
1996. The company was the first manufacturer to offer commercially
available four-stroke snowmobiles in the 2002 model year.
Arctic Cat snowmobiles meet the National Park Service's strictest
Best Available Technology (BAT) requirements for air and sound emissions
standards; the 2004 T660 Touring; 2003 4-Stroke Trail and Touring
snowmobile requirements; and the 2002 4-Stroke Trail and Touring
snowmobile models.
Arctic Cat was the first to commercially develop and make available
the four-stroke snowmobile. The Chairman of Arctic Cat Snowmobiles
firmly believes that Artic Cat snowmobiles continue to lead the
snowmobile industry.
