Snow boots
There
is a difference between snow boots and winter boots. Whereas snow
boots are designed for both cold and wet weather conditions, winter
boots are only made to keep your feet warm.
Snow boots are the best choice if you are planning to be out in
the elements since they are designed to protect your feet in wet
and muddy cold weather.
While winter boots will do an okay job of keeping your feet warm
in cold temperatures, it lacks specific features found in snow boots.
Winter boots are built well and provide good insulation, but they
are for a general cold day verses snowy wet conditions. Some good
winter boots will be waterproof or, at a minimum, water repellant.
However, winter boots lack the ability to keep snow from tumbling
inside the boot between the boot opening and lower leg. Thus, to
wear a normal winter boot in deep snow, a snow gator must be worn.
Snow boot features:
· Waterproofing – Some winter boots are are made to
be water resistant but are not waterproof. Water resistant boots
work just fine in mildly wet weather, but if you are planning to
be out in wet snow, they simply won’t hold up.
· Extended Boot Height - Snow boots are specifically designed
for hiking through deep snow. Snow boots will extend well above
the ankle - generally higher than a typical hiking boot.
Snow boots are especially good for people who spend a lot of time
outdoors during the winter. For people who enjoy winter sports,
snow boots are a must. They will add to the quality of your experience
simply by keeping you comfortable. Nothing will put an end to your
wonderful snow day out than cold, wet feet in freezing conditions.
