Snowmobile bibs
Alright,
so snowmobile
“bibs” may not be the most attractive name
for a pair of pants, but a pair of snowmobile bibs sure can get
the job done well. And what job is that? Well, snowmobile bibs can
keep you warm and dry even on the coldest or wettest days.
Sure, you could wear a regular pair of snow pants, ones that go
up no farther than your waist, but such pants are just not going
to keep you as comfortable as snowmobile bibs. Just as babies need
bibs to keep food from dribbling down their clothes, snowmobilers
need snowmobile bibs to keep snow from drifting down their pants!
Brrrr… nothing feels colder than snow against the nape of
your back!
Alright. So you are going to get a pair of snowmobile bibs. Now
what should you look for? What will be the bet pair of snowmobile
bibs for you?
· Be certain that your snowmobile bibs are 100% waterproof
and weather proof.
· Also, be certain that your snowmobile bibs fit well –
this means that they should fit well and be comfortable no matter
if you are standing or sitting, and no matter how many layers you
are wearing underneath.
· Buy warm snowmobile bibs. It can get cold out there!
· Buy snowmobile bibs with ventilating systems. Yes, it can
get cold out there, but when you are working hard, it can also get
pretty warm. Be sure that your snowmobile bibs have side zippers
or some way to let some of your inner heat out.
· Consider a drop seat. As mentioned before, it can get pretty
cold out there. And having to take off your coat just to take off
your snowmobile bibs can make you pretty darn cold. Consider a drop
seat.
· Be sure that your snowmobile pants have a cuff system that
prevents snow from creeping up.
· If you ride a lot at night, find snowmobile bibs with reflective
piping fo rhtat added visibility.
· Padded seat and knees! You will not be at your optimum
comfort level unless your snowmobile bibs have a well-padded seat
and knees. “Well-padded” does not necessarily mean that
your seat and knees will be overly thick with padding, it just means
that they should meet a certain comfort level.
· Two words: taped seams. Something can not be considered
fully waterproof unless it has taped seams.
· Hand warmer pockets.
· Adjustable shoulder straps.
· Durable
· Extra pockets
So, you may be hard pressed to find everything on this list in
your dream pair of snowmobile bibs, but that is ok. You probably
do not want or need everything in this list. This list is just to
get you thinking about what you think is important in a good pair
of snowmobile pants, and then you can go from there.
