Snowmobile Replacement Parts
No
matter what type of snowmobile you own, your snowmobile parts should
always stay in good condition. Are you sure your snowmobile is ready for the season? Will you need
any snowmobile replacement parts? Run your snowmobile through a
maintenance check using ten simple points to ensure that when you
hit the snow this season you have a good ride, not a trailer ride
to the shop. After you have finished the checklist you will know
what to buy at your snowmobile replacement parts store. Then there
will probably be some maintenance required. Remember, after the
season is over it is good to do another inspection of your snowmobile.
Visual Outer Inspection First wash off the thick coat of summer dust before you bring out
your snowmobile for a visual outer inspection. To assess what snowmobile replacement parts you may need. Begin
with the exterior of your sled. Check for peeling decals, small
cracks, cracked or deteriorated appearing hood latches and windshield
fasteners on the hood of your snowmobile. Hood cracks in high-stress
areas could end up making the hood unusable. Replacement snowmobile
parts are available at auto body or auto parts stores and here online.
—Examine the seat cover for nicks or tears, and any area no
longer correctly mounted. Repairs are not as likely to hold in a
corner or high stress area.
—Do your visual inspection of the track and rear suspension.
Check your sliders or hyfax, and all suspension parts for obvious
damage. Replace worn sliders. Missing parts, such as idlers, must
be purchased and installed.
—Check track for tears, missing lugs, or missing track clips.
The track should be replaced with new snowmobile parts if there
are tears.
—Move the stand to the front of the sled, or tip the sled
on its side to do your visual inspection of the skis and runners.
Steel skis should not have holes or be bent out of shape. Plastic
should not be cut or gouged. Replace worn skis and/or runners with
snowmobile replacement parts.
—Check the sled's drive belt. Make sure that it is not cracked,
frayed, or worn. Also make sure that you still have a spare belt.
Replace worn or damaged drive belts.
—Your sled may have a fan or water-pump belt as part of its
cooling system. Determine that the tension is correct. Always replace
worn, glazed, or cracked belts with new snowmobile parts.
—Locate your throttle and oil cables, see if they are frayed
or damaged, or cable ties that have been broken or lost, and check
the brake cables, all frayed, damaged, or broken cables must be
replaced with snowmobile replacement parts.
—Next, check all of your fluid levels: injection oil, coolant,
brake fluid, and chaincase oil, follow your instruction manual.
Check the master cylinder on hydraulic brakes, usually just a visual
inspection. Have the right injection oil. If any fluid levels are
low, you should investigate.
—Check exhaust springs and mounts, to make sure they are all
present and tight. If there is wear or damage, find yourself replacement
parts.
—Have a safe and fun snowmobile season!
