What
exactly constitutes “winter clothing?” Well, if you
live in Hawaii, your winter clothes may consist of a string bikini
with pictures of snowmen. But if you live in a state with a full-on
snowy winter, your winter clothes are going to look very different
from your summer clothes. In fact, you probably cannot even pack
away your winter clothes into the same small space that you took
your summer clothes out of. Winter clothes are just bulkier, because
they need to offer that much more warmth.
The most important winter clothes, perhaps, are winter sports clothes.
If you are working out during the cold months, you need an entirely
different system of clothing to keep you warm. One of the most important
things to wear during the winter months is layers. When you are
wearing layers, you can always just remove a layer of winter clothes
when you get to hot.
A good base layer of winter clothes, no matter if you are skiing
or snowmobiling or whatever, is a thermal, wicking fabric. You want
a wicking fabric that will wick the sweat away from your body. You
will be much more comfortable if you are dry, and it will also help
you stay warmer.
A hat is also a very important piece of winter clothing. A person
can lose 60% of his body heat through his head. You can cap that
body heat and keep it down in your body with a cap or a winter hat.
Gloves are also very important pieces of winter clothing. Whether
you are going to be snowmobiling, skiing, biking, or even walking
downtown, your hands are oh-so-likely to get chilled if you are
not wearing gloves. In fact, if you do not have gloves, you better
hope to heaven that you have some warm pockets to stick those hands
in.
Another piece of winter clothing that has even begun to make its
debut during the summer months is the ever-popular scarf. In fact,
scarves have become quite the trendy item. But a scarf is more than
just a fashion accessory. When the snow is coming down on your face
or the wind is blowing on it or Jack Frost is nipping at it, you
can pull a scarf right up over your face for great protection from
the cold.
Whatever winter clothes you start pulling out of storage and putting
into your closet at the first sign of fall, they are sure to keep
you warm and comfortable during the winter months.
